Max Geers at Shiner's On The Levee in Newport, KY

Max calls me one day and says he's been working so hard on his recordings that he wanted to focus more on his media. This is the first time he's been on stage with a full band and it's always great to capture Max's milestone moments. I had just got a new Fujifilm 56mm lens and wanted to break it in! There were some focusing challenges on my end, but we got some amazing moments to carry on forever. I hope to work with Max well into the future!

The World of Beauty

Our world is the only one we will know; it's beauty is our own.

I'll admit, most of the world I have only seen through the world wide web. Pictures of Africa, Egypt, Japan, Spain; hell even most of the United States, but that has never kept me from admiring the rolling hills of Ireland or learning the history that surrounds the Pagodas of China. I have tried to cast the same enchantment upon the lands that I can touch and see; to capture the details that Luna cannot reach.

The chance for love

Fight for it

You never know when someone with the power to change your life in ways you didn't think could be possible will be thrown into your environment. When it happens though, it's best to fight tooth and nail to keep that person with you. Not because without them you are nothing, but because with them you are everything. Fight on until the morning sun.

Be there with them

Photography

I enjoy taking pictures of all sorts. The People, The World, The Space, and The Bits. In each of them, I look to invoke the same emotional response I received when I stared.

Writing

I am currently working on a book that puts an emphasis on the people connection, loneliness, and the desire to fit in somewhere. Where struggle develops skill.

Please, have a glance.

Howdy!

My name is Mabe.

I have spent my life in the pursuit of self-actualization. In that effort, I made many mistakes and learned my lesson all too often. I have put myself in a position to apologize more times than I can count. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to ask for forgiveness from those that I wronged. On my apology tours, I never considered forgiving myself.

I worked hard to get where I am and I used to think I did it on my own. I taught myself almost everything I know. I failed to realize I wouldn't be here without the people in my life being able to see something in me; that my anger blinded me from. I have loved each and every person I spent time with in my life; no matter the length of time they were here. I used to say I lived a life unguided. I realize now that each individual I came across nudged me back to my path. Some even gave me a push or shove. And for that, I thank you.

I hope this site provides solace to those that are in the middle of their journey or have just begun. Staying true to your heart will get you to your destination; even when you feel lost. Bruce Lee famously said "It's like a finger pointing to the moon. Do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss all of the heavenly glory." Keep reaching for the stars, because falling short will still land you on Luna. My journey has come to fruition and now I can be that nudge for others. Thank you for visiting. I love you and wish you the best.

The Space to feel safe.

Space can feel cold and lonely yet I have always looked to it for comfort.

I grew up a Trekkie. My father would turn on The Next Generation almost every day. He had watched it enough to walk me through every episode. When he passed, I continued to watch Star Trek to be closer to him. In that, I found how socially progressive that show was for the 90's; which held nothing to the progressiveness of The Original Series of the 60's. To this day, I am not sure if he knew how much I learned about societal progressiveness through the crew of the Enterprise. How much I have studied leadership by feeling Captain Jean Luc Picard interact with his officers. Most of all, I learned what it was to be human by seeing Data's aspiration to be flesh and blood.

Space has always been a safe place for me and I have always looked to bring a safe space to those around me. Safe to express themselves honestly; without fear of ridicule. The hull of my mind is thick and unwavering. As difficult as it is for me to let someone board my USS Self, once they were aboard they were given that same protection under my command. As you scroll through these images of stars and space, know that you are safe to be yourself. Because in space, self-reliance and self-truth are all we have.
